What We Do The Temple Introduction The First Thing About Me Philosophy |
This site is a series of essays based on the concepts of Hindu based
Neo-tantric principles. Some of the concepts given here are beginner
meditations, some are more advanced for the active practitioner, and
some are waaaaaaay out there. I have tried to organize them in a reasonable
way. Please understand this is the work of a normal human. I would
like the reader to realize that I learned tantra under not just one
guru, but a series of different teachers and different sources. I sought
out the truth of the practices by going against commonly held wisdoms,
and the experiences offered here are from my own experimentations and
those of the people whom I taught these methods. In some essays you
will find personal anecdotal explanations of certain rituals. Realize
that this is simply my take on the Universe.
That being said..... What is Tantra? Tantra is a Hindu/Tibetan spiritual practice that utilizes physical energy, especially sexual energy as it's means to boost one's consciousness into alternate mind states on the path to enlightenment. It is a practice as old as Yoga, with just as many off shoots, and it is very controversial even in it's far Eastern home. What I practice is not Traditional Tantra, and I will never claim that it is so. However, because Traditional Tantra Teachers are out of reach for most people in America, including myself, I still call it Tantra, as that is what I set out to learn. When one first hears about Tantra and the idea of Sacred Sex, usually the Western paradigm walls come firmly down, and the listener's mind twists and turns around the idea of something so profane being sacred. How can something that we have all been taught is "wrong" and "dirty" be a path to enlightenment? How can one possibly use sex as a way to meet divinity? Some people think of Tantra as large orgies of people, having ecstatic sex and orgasms with wild abandon. This is not Tantra, although in some new-age communities it is called such. It isn't as simple as fueling your magick with orgasm, either. That is simply sex magick, and while it has its place, it cannot be considered Tantra. There are 2 types of Tantra usually referred to: White Tantra is done alone, while Red Tantra requires a partner. There are several different styles of Tantra as well, most of which branch off of either Hindu or Tibetan lineage. Some schools teach abstinence and withholding, while others teach letting go and revelling in the moment. I recommend practice at both before deciding which is best for yourself. When you combine the power of Kundalini, the lessons of Experiencing, the philosophy of Duality, along with hours of intense energy connecting, the results are astonishing. Physical manifestations take almost no time to appear, and mental obstacles fall in the face of it. Tantra can lead one to a path of pure ecstatic experience, where the doorways to divinity are thrown wide open, and the world is your playground. To learn more about the style of Tantra that I practice, please feel free to check out some of the essays on this website.
