Festival Location Information

Windward is located on the East side of the Cascade range, in the mountains. This means that the weather there will be very different from in-town weather. It will be dryer, colder, and more windy than the city, so be prepared for temperatures to range from 32 degrees at night to 70 during the day. Be prepared for sunburn or rain. The wind picks up every evening at dusk; please bring enough tent stakes and other wind-resistant needs. Although it rains more on the west side of the mountains, we may find a shower or two coming out around  dinnertime. As with any  adventure, be prepared.

The water supply at Windward usees solar-powered pumps. We ask that you bring as much of your own water with you to be kind to the system.

This year we have created a Kiddie Corral for youngsters who are active but should not be underfoot. This area will have crafts, games, and toys to keep them busy. The Corral is within view of the stage, so that parents can enjoy the music while keeping an eye on their kids. This is not intended to be a daycare, however, there will be individual staff members with whom you may negotiate private arrangements.

Directions to Windward

From Portland
Take I-84 to Hood River Oregon.
Go North and cross the bridge at Hood River.
At the end of the bridge turn right on Hwy 14.
Go 9 miles To Hwy 142 and follow the directions below.

From Vancouver
Take Hwy 14 East 65 miles to Hwy 142, and follow the directions below.

From the intersection of Hwys 14 &142, just West of Lyle, WA.
Turn LEFT on Hwy 142, and follow the Klickitat River for 16.5 miles.
Go past the town of Klickitat, you will find Wahkiacus Heights Road (look for the signs to Windward and Spiral Rhythms).
Make a LEFT on Wahkiacus Heights, and take it to the top of the hill. When the road flattens out, you will see a Y in the road.
Take the LEFT fork, which is Long Road.
Continue down Long Road to the first road on the RIGHT. This is Windward Road.
Follow Windward Road PAST the parking area, follow the road around a sharp LEFT turn and continue up the hill. The Spiral Rhythms Gate will be at the top.

Absolutely no pets are allowed! Unfortunately, if we make exceptions to this rule, we will be endangering the livestock of our hosts, not to mention annoying everyone else.
