Masterbaditation:

One of my students coined the term for this exercise, and a very fitting one it is....

This exercise must be done when you are alone. Put yourself in a sacred space where you will not be bothered for at least 30 minutes. Your private bedroom is the perfect place for this meditation. Light candles and incense to remind yourself that this is a sacred act.

Lay down on your bed nude. Relax every muscle in your body; go limp like a rag doll. Begin pranayama breathing pattern. Focus on the here and now.

Using very little physical effort, begin masterbating. Relax and just experience the feeling of your hand on your genitals. Don't drop into your typical fantasizing mindtrip, and dont' try to imagine that there is another person in the room. Just experience your own hand giving yourself pleasure, and tell yourself "this is the experience of masterbation".

When you feel yourself becomming aroused, keep in mind that you should be relaxed, allowing all of your muscles to be limp. The energy caused in your genitals will spread across your entire body if you stay relaxed. Keep the pranayama going too. Whenever you feel yourself getting distracted, focus on a small area of your genitals and bring yourself back. Relax and focus is the name of this game.

Relax and breathe as your desire builds. If you find yourself on the verge of the cliff that is orgasm, stop moving your hand and breathe deeply. Try to stay aroused but not orgasming--staying on the edge of the cliff--for at least 28 minutes. One strategy that works is to build up and back off repeatedly for 28 minutes. Another strategy I'll recommend is to put the clock in a location where you can't see it unless you get up to look at it. That way you know that you just have to extend the meditation as long as possible.

If you orgasm before the 28 minute target time, allow that energy to propell you into imagination for as long as you can lay there. This is great practice for astral travel.

If you make it to that 28 minute window, your body will change and orgasm will no longer be an issue. You will find yourself floating in a strange fashion which cannot be described here. But this float is useful for receiving psychic information and other important things. Don't be in a hurry to return. (For explanation of the '28 minute' threshold, look for another essay after this one).

Once you get into the habit of being here and being now when you are masterbating, you will be able to do the same thing with a lover. Many times we are afraid that if our lover doesn't sense us tense up and thrust when he/she strokes us just so, our lover may not be getting the correct message that what they are doing is pleasant. When you use this method in a couples setting, it makes it much easier to verbalize what you want. You find the energy wants to come out in "ooohs' and "ahhs" than any other way.

This meditation takes practice and patience. I don't know many who have acheived 28 minutes in less than 3 attempts. Personally it took me 5. So be patient....it's worth it.
