2003-02-12 * Heart Cave Meditation
Heart Cave Meditation:
Sit quietly in lotus position on the floor, or upright in a chair. Close your eyes and relax, begin meditative breathing. Visualize yourself sitting inside your own heart.
It should appear as a red-walled cave. Look around the cave and see if you can see any damage to the walls; holes, tears, dirt, rips, anything that looks unhealthy. Now, get up and repair any and all holes. Pull the edges together, smooth over any cracks or tears with your hands.
If you need any tools, you will find them laying on the floor. Go all the way around the cave, including the floor and ceiling. It might take some time. If you can't do it all in one visit, look at the damage, decide what needs to be done, and promise yourself to come back and finish the job later. Approach it like you would any long-term project.
Once you are done cleanup and repair work, go back to the center of the cave and stand in the same place you began. Turn around quickly, and you will see a mirror image of you. This is the inner ?self?, and you will see some minor differences between you and your self. Make a note of them. If there is any real damage, try to help him/her heal. Now, give your self a hug, the kind of hug you would give a loved one who has just returned from a long absence. Feel your bond to this person.
When you have bonded enough with your self, say goodbye and make a promise to return. This is a place you should be comfortable visiting, and make a point of returning over and over, until you feel that the inner self is identical with the outer self, and the heart is totally repaired and cleaned.
